Bridging the Gap: Portraits in Pencil, Impressions in Ink is a one-day immersive art experience highlighting the power of line, shadow, and skin as canvases for transformation, healing, and human connection. The show will feature pencil portraits, pen-and-ink sketches, and tattoo-inspired artwork created by artists whose stories intersect with rehabilitation, recovery, and new beginnings, inviting the community to see people, not pasts.

Event description

On May 16th, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Los Osos Community Center will be transformed into a dynamic gallery and live studio space, showcasing original portraits and ink-based art across multiple mediums. Guests will experience live art demonstrations, interactive stations, and opportunities to connect directly with artists as they create in real time.

The exhibit will highlight pencil portraits, pen and ink works, and tattoo-style designs that explore identity, resilience, and the stories carried in faces and on skin. Proceeds from art sales, auctions, and sponsorships will support Restorative Partners’ work with justice-involved individuals and those in recovery, helping to bridge the gap between incarceration and community.

Program elements

  • Curated gallery of framed pencil portraits and pen-and-ink pieces.

  • Tattoo-inspired art wall featuring flash sheets, concept designs, and large-format works.

  • Live art demonstrations by sketch, ink, and tattoo artists throughout the day.

  • Silent and live auctions of select original works and experience packages (e.g., custom portrait sessions, tattoo consultations).

  • Sponsor booths and information tables highlighting mission-aligned partners.

  • Food and beverages by The Bridge Café (TBC), with a portion of proceeds supporting the cause.

 

Sponsorship levels

 

Title Sponsor (1) – “Masterpiece Sponsor” – $20,000

  • Naming recognition as the Masterpiece Sponsor on all event materials (“Bridging the Gap presented by [Sponsor Name]”).

  • Prominent logo placement on invitations, posters, digital promotions, and event signage.

  • Social Media exposure on all social media posts. Mention and link on social media event posting

  • Name included on event calendar listings throughout the community

  • Name recognition on auction website

  • Full-page feature in the event program and highlighted mention during live auction and welcome remarks.

  • Opportunity to provide a brief welcome message at the event.

  • Premium booth space at the event with option for interactive activation.

  • Complimentary portrait sitting

  • Acknowledgment on one shared social media thank-you post.

  • Judges seat for tattoo contests, announce winners and photo ops with winners.

Gallery Sponsor (2) – $15,000

  • Logo placement on event program, select signage, and digital promotions.

  • Recognition as a Gallery Sponsor for one main installation area (e.g., Portrait Gallery, Ink Gallery, or Tattoo Wall).

  • Half-page ad in the event program.

  • Social Media exposure on all social media posts. Mention and link on social media event posting

  • Verbal recognition during program and live auction.

  • Booth space for outreach and engagement.

  • Acknowledgment on one shared social media thank-you post.

 

Canvas Sponsor (3) – $10,000

  • Logo included on shared sponsor signage and event program.

  • Recognition as Canvas Sponsor for a specific element such as live demo station, food area, or auction section.

  • Quarter-page ad in the event program.

  • Acknowledgment on one shared social media thank-you post.

 

Community Partner (unlimited) – $2000

  • Name listed in event program under Community Partners.

  • Name listed on Bridging the Gap event website sponsor page.

  • Acknowledgment on one shared social media thank-you post.

Live and silent auctions (amounts vary)

  • Hammer & Heart Live Auction Sponsor (1) – $2,500
    Naming rights for the live auction segment, logo on bid paddles and auction slides, verbal recognition before and after the auction.

  • Bidding for Change Silent Auction Sponsor (1)  – $1,000
    Logo on all silent auction bid sheets and tables, recognition on auction signage and final results announcements.

 

Children’s activities - (unlimited) $2,000

  • Young Creators Corner Sponsor (1) – $2,000
    Naming rights for the children’s art and activity area, logo on activity signage, option to provide branded coloring sheets or giveaways.

 

Live portraits of local celebrities (amounts vary)

  • Spotlight Portraits Sponsor (1) – $2,000
    Naming rights for the live celebrity portrait series, logo on easel signs and portrait display, recognition during announcements for each live sitting.

  • Star Canvas Supporter (2) – $1,000
    Name or logo on shared signage near the portrait stage and in the event program.

 

Temporary tattoos (amounts vary)

  • Ink Play Station Sponsor (1) – $2,000
    Naming rights for the temporary tattoo station, logo on booth signage, option to co-brand select temporary tattoo designs.

  • Flash Fun Supporter (5) – $750
    Name listed on station signage and in the program as a supporter of interactive art experiences.

 

Food and beverage (amounts vary)

  • Taste of Bridge Sponsor (1) – $2,000
    Naming rights for the food area, logo on menu boards and table tents, recognition alongside The Bridge Café in promotions related to food.

  • Café Companion Sponsor (5) – $750
    Logo on shared food-area signage and mention in the program as supporting refreshments for guests.

 

In-kind and tattoo studio partners

Tattoo studios and art suppliers are invited to participate as in-kind partners by donating gift certificates, artwork, or supplies, or by pledging a portion of tattoo proceeds during the month surrounding the event. Participating studios will be featured as Ink Partners in event materials, social media, and at a dedicated recognition display at the venue.

Studios that commit a month of partial proceeds to Restorative Partners will receive elevated recognition, including a highlight post, logo placement on an “Month of Ink” board at the event, and optional on-site presence on April 16th.
